I suspect there is shell api that might provide the enumeration that the control panel uses to display the virtual adapter. The 'vEthernet (WSL)' adapter on the Windows host seems to have gone missing no such adapter is showing up in ipconfig. Note that the documentation for WlanEnumInterfaces says: Further data: The virtual network addresses for WSL are also unreachable from the Windows host i.e., from a command prompt, it is impossible to ping either 172.28.121.226 or 172.28.112.1.
My main question is 'How to I detect the presence of a windows virtual wifi adapter?' To resolve this issue, Microsoft has started pushing out an updated Qualcomm Wi-Fi driver to affected users that will allow them to install the latest Windows 10 feature updates. The drivers that out there now seem to be pretty buggy, and I've found that unless I manually disable the virtual wifi adapter the real adapter will not reliably connect to a wireless access point when commanded by the WLAN api.
The Windows 7 virtual adapter is supposed to be included with any approved Windows 7 wifi drivers. netsh wlan sho d output below: - Custom W10 Image -Interface name: Wi-Fi. Please take as a given for this question that I need to directly control the wifi adapter using this documented api and can't just leave it up to OS and user. The only difference Ive seen so far is the on the machine where wireless display is not working the 'Microsoft Wi-Fi Direct Virtual Adapter' is showing in device manager as 'Not Connected (Code 45)'. I have an application that directly controls the windows wifi interface card using the Native Wifi API ( ). We usually disable all adapters except for the Ethernet and wireless.
Each time, the computer has multiple WAN Miniport Adapters, Microsoft Kernel Debug Network Adapter, Microsoft Wi-Fi Direct Virtual Adapter, and Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface that are in the Network Adapters section. Windows 7 has a (neat?) new feature called a 'virtual wireless adapter'. Once a month, we get a computer that has internet issues. Hey.Assalamu Alaykum Warah MATULLAHFor those who don't find 'Microsoft Hosted Network virtual adapter' in hidden devices and those who see the message 'Hos.
